AEQUOR’S Executive Vice President Receives Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award
Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 03:11 PM - Announcements
Posted by Aequor News

Kamalpreet S. Virdi, the founding Partner and Executive Vice President of AEQUOR Group was announced today as the recipient of the 2008 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award, presented by the Asian American Business Development Center (AABDC).

The awards honor Asian American entrepreneurs and executives with great achievements in business nationwide. In honor of the recipients, an awards dinner will be held May 28 at The Waldof-Astoria in New York City. The 2008 awards recognize achievements from 2007 and is the first and largest business award program for the Asian American business community.

"All this year's award recipients have faced the challenges of running a business head-on with outstanding success. Asian Americans are a successful group of individuals and this is why our organization wants to recognize the talent among the community," says John Wang, president of AABDC.
Kamalpreet S. Virdi, a 31 year old Asian American is a partner, Board member and Sr. Exec Vice President for Aequor Group of Companies. Aequor Group is a privately owned group by Virdi brothers. Aequor Group has Aequor Technologies, Inc, Aequor Healthcare Services, Inc, Aequor Homes, Inc, Aequor Funding, Inc and CPLC Education Center, Inc under its umbrella. Aequor Group is celebrating their Ten Years of Success this year.

Kamalpreet Virdi’s story began when he came with his family to United States on Dec 12, 1992 in the middle of a winter storm. Their ride arrived to the airport after almost 4hrs. The bitter cold made him and his family realize very quickly that if they want to survive in this country they will have to work very hard and the only thing they had with them was hope. Kamalpreet was born in New Delhi, India and belonged to a business class family. Kamalpreet’s father Kuldip Virdi had two sons and he wanted his sons to be highly educated and felt success would come to his sons through education only. Kamalpreet’s father had chosen the path of making his elder son an engineer and his younger son (Kamalpreet) a doctor. Kamalpreet did a lot of volunteer work in the hospitals during his high school year to serve the elderly. After his High School from Old Bridge High School in New Jersey, he went to Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ to pursue medicine. During his college years, Kamalpreet realized that medicine was the not his passion and his mind was always into business as he had seen his father as a successful businessman growing up. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, instead of pursuing Medicine, Kamalpreet went after his passion to have his own business. He worked in the corporate environment in a technical field for few years with companies like Embassy CES & Home Box Office (HBO), at the start of his career. To enhance his Technical skills, he pursued and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, New Jersey.

Even while working fulltime, Kamalpreet’s entrepreneur spirit always kept pushing him towards having his own business. With the Technical skills that Kamal had acquired at NJIT and the demand in IT Industry, Kamal went ahead to pursue the passion of owning his own company. He started his first venture as Aequor Technologies, Inc in 1998 with his brother Manmeet Virdi. This was the start of Aequor and from that point on Kamalpreet S. Virdi and his brother ventured into various areas including starting a training division franchise as CPLC Education Center. Kamal and his brother also ventured into other areas like providing services in Healthcare arena with Aequor Healthcare Services and in Real-estate with Aequor Homes & Aequor Funding. All these ventures helped Aequor leverage various market conditions and strategically diversifying their company into various areas so that they would continue to grow in any market condition.

Kamalpreet believes in Harry Truman’s statement that “you can accomplish anything in life, provided that you do not mind who gets the credit.” Kamalpreet feels he can transform his company into a great company as long as we don’t worry about who gets the credit for it. How you work with people is as important as the work you do. Respect, purpose, goodness is required in addition to achieving results on time and within budget.

Aequor attributes its Ten (10) years of Success not only to its founding principles of openness and interoperability, but also to its commitment to innovate new technologies. Aequor is proud of their diversity, the culture, work environment, integrity and great teams just to name a few of their good differentiators. Kamalpreet S. Virdi said, “Overall, the last decade had been full of challenges and changes and some were anticipated and others had taken Aequor by surprise. All in all most changes had been extremely positive. Aequor was fortunate that we were not only able to tackle these challenges but were able to learn from mistakes. Aequor is proud of all that we have accomplished over the past decade, but none of it would have been possible without the support of every staff member. We look forward to a similar continuous growth and success in the coming years.”

Sales Training
Friday, April 25, 2008, 11:14 AM - Training
Posted by Aequor News

On Friday, April 25, 2008, Aequor Healthcare and Technology’s sales departments had their first Sales Training. The training was facilitated by Greg Williams and he presented the S.A.L.E. Process . For those who did not attend, the S.A.L.E Process consists of the follow-ing and can be applied to any sales situation.

Set the Stage – In this first step you want to establish a plan, secure the initial meeting or ap-pointment, and establish a rapport with potential clients.

Analyze Needs – The second step occurs once a meeting is set and is designed to
discover what clients are currently using, determine what is working and what is not, and establish what the client likes and do not like.

Link to Solutions – The third step enables you to present solutions and benefits once the need has been determined.

Establish Commitment – The final step allows you to determine the level of comfort established between you and the client and enables you to close the sale.

Throughout the training we participated in five activities that are crucial to every sales encoun-ter. Fortunately, these activities have been adopted and incorporated as part of daily sales ap-proach. Greg Williams pointed out that it’s important to make sure you have done your home-work before approaching any potential client. In addition, disastrous situations will develop if you are unable to effectively ask the right questions, listen, and clarify what the client ulti-mately needs, as well as, present a reasonable and cost effective solution. The final point the attendees took with them was how to handle objection and rejection. Handling objection or rejection is part of the game and every sales professional will experience one or the other more often than they would like. Being able to develop a response to counteract such negativity will seal the deal.
